Statement from the Artist

I seek to express, through my paintings, the emotional content of landscapes, floral impressions, and other scenes, as well as more contemporary and non-representational works. One may find my images disturbing as well as exciting, confusing as well as enlightening. Always, my paintings evoke a response from the viewer. This is the essence of the visual arts.

Many of my works recreate an image in the familiar, traditional style of realism, while others create an impression of that image or scene. Some of my paintings are straightforward and traditional; these are not difficult to understand, and probably do not distract nor disturb the viewer. Other contemporary and non-representational works are more challenging to the mind, may cause one to reflect on innermost emotions and thoughts, and may create turmoil for the viewer.

Art is a creative endeavor, imbued with exciting energy and great enthusiasm. Color paints the mood of our everyday, and each new day is just one more part of the "moment" that is a life span.

My work is created to impart energy and enthusiasm in familiar and less familiar images. It is my hope that my paintings will bring color and difference into the viewer's "moment," as well as cause the viewer to explore deep thoughts and emotions, and entertain new ideas and possibilities.
