This summer provided two exciting venues to experience Jim's latest work. The second annual Art Trek Tryon took place in late July. The preview party at the Upstairs Artspace in Tryon was held on Friday, July 23 from 5-8 pm. The open studio tours were on Saturday, July 24 (10am-5pm) and Sunday, July 25 (noon-5pm). Several families took the opportunity to visit the JShackelford studio and were provided not only with a chance to see numerous pieces created by Jim, but also had the time to talk with the artist and learn more about his work. If you were not able to take advantage of this unique opportunity, we hope to see you next year!

For those of you who live further south (or are planning to travel to the area), Jim was one of five featured artists exhibiting at the Huntsville Alabama Museum of Art. Jim's portion of the exhibit focused on ten floral, mountain, and coastal landscapes for this special event.

On Thursday, September 9, Jim's acrylic-on-canvas paintings were exhibited and available for sale at the Vignettes Summer Fundraiser hosted by the Museum Foundation Board. Guests at the event had an opportunity to enjoy live music, sumptuous food and drink while viewing and purchasing pieces by the featured artists. Proceeds benefited the Huntsville Museum of Art Foundation, and a portion of the proceeds were used to sponsor student scholarships to the Museum’s Art Academy.
